3M's cream treats sun-damaged skin
3M Co. reported positive clinical results from several Phase III studies of imiquod, sold as Aldara Cream, as a treatment for two skin conditions caused by overexposure to the sun. The Maplewood company said it is on schedule to submit supplemental new drug applications to the Food and Drug Administration by the middle of this year. It is seeking approval of Aldara as a treatment for actinic keratoses and superficial basal cell carcinoma. 3M's pharmaceuticals division launched Aldara in 1997 for the treatment of external genital and perianal warts.
